Matthew 17:21 (KJV)
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Acts 4:31 (KJV)
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
From January 2nd through the 31st, we are embarking on a campaign to fast and pray for these 30 days.
Here are some exciting and fresh perspectives on prayer that will enhance your communication with God during this time.
- Write down your closest neighbor to the North, South, East and West of you and pray for them daily.
- Write down your closest fellow disciple of Solid Rock to the North, South, East and West of you and pray for them daily.
- Drive through your town praying for those who live on each street.
- Take the Missions Focus prayer calendar and each day “Google” information about the missionary’s city/country and pray for not only them, but their government, etc.
- Do fast from meals as often as you can, and if you have no medical problems with doing so, but also fast from things of enjoyment like movies, magazines, internet chatting, favorite soda or candy bar, etc.
Each week in January will have a prayer focus. We will be uniting with numerous prayer warriors all over the word for this purpose. Following is a weekly prayer focus breakdown:
- 1st week focus = God’s promises are sure but they are prayed into fulfillment. Let us unite in one accord for the outpouring of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:17 – I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh…)
- 2nd week focus = The power of God works IN us. Let’s unite together and pray for the five-fold ministry (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers) to be anointed to perfect the saints for the work of the ministry. (Luke 4:32, Eph. 4:11-12, 1 Cor. 2:1-5)
- 3rd week focus = The early church went everywhere sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Acts 8:4). Let’s unite in prayer for each of us to understand our empowerment to be witnesses unto all the earth. (Acts 1:8)
- 4th week focus = The entire city of Samaria was stirred by the preaching of Philip. Let’s unite in one accord that God would impact our communities through us with His Word. (Acts 8)
We, the saints of God in Caribou, have been tasked to pray for the following churches and cities during this season of prayer and fasting. We will pray for laborers to be sent into the harvest. We will pray that love and unity prevail in these churches. We will pray for the pastor’s and leaders.
- Calvary Tabernacle – Perth Andover, NB – Pastor David Ferrell
- The Pentecostals of Presque Isle – Presque Isle, ME – Pastor Anthony Scott
- Christian Life Fellowship – Madawaska, ME – Pastor Ronald Doughty
- Key’s to Life Fellowship – Calais, ME – Pastor Steve Beauregard
- Joyful Harvest Church – Sanford, ME – Pastor George Little
- The Pentecostals of Brunswick – Brunswick, ME – Pastor Charles Braden
- Real Life Church – San Rafael, CA – Pastor Steven Caballero
- The Life Church – Towson, MD – Pastor Todd Gaddy
- The Pentecostals of Montreal – Montreal, QB – Pastor Scott Grant
As we embark on this grand endeavor, let us remember that unified prayer is a force to be reckoned with. The enemy would love to hinder your prayers, and stop them all together. You will need to make the time to pray. It will be a sacrifice to fast, but it is one that heaven will notice.
Fasting is important, as it denies our flesh, putting it into subjection to our spirit. This allows our spirit to be in tune more clearly with the Holy Spirit. However, if you have a medical condition that requires you to eat, please do so and fast other things like favorite soda’s, or fast your coffee treat’s at Tim Horton’s, etc. This way, you can still participate in the fast, and not put your health at risk.
1 Peter 4:7 (KJV) But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
