Let us not forget Thanksgiving this year. All too often we fly right over this great hoilday and speed right into Christmas. So, set back, enjoy this blog and discover the true meaning of Thanksgiving and Christmas
We are approaching the Holiday Season faster than a speeding bullet... before you know it, we will be stuffing more than a turkey -- we'll be stuffing our faces. And then it's off to the races! Wal-Mart will be jam-packed. Aisle upon aisle advertising the latest and best gadget or gizmo to get for that special someone. In all the hustle and bustle, I bring you this story.
The small church in rural Oklahoma was preparing for their Christmas drama. Teddy was a young boy who was mentally challenged, but wanted so bad to be in the play. The director found a place for him: he could be the innkeeper who turned Jesus into the stable. Practice after practice, Teddy gave his lines with gusto and never missed a beat. He would open the door of the inn and proclaim, "There is no room; you can use the stable though."
The night of the Christmas Cantatta finally arrived. Parents, grandparents, neighbors, church members, friends all were there seated in the congregation. Camera's were flashing, and video's were being made of this night. Finally, the moment arrived. "Joseph and Mary" knocked on the innkeeper's door asking for a room. Teddy opened the door and started his lines... then choked up and said, "NO! Wait! Come back. You can have my room!" The crowd realized what had happened and although Teddy had messed up his lines, he had shown the true spirit of Christmas through his words and deeds.
This year as we stuff turkey's, buy gifts, wrap presents, and enjoy the company of family, let's remember to let Jesus have our room. Don't turn Him away.
